KUCHING, June 10: There was higher percentage of students passing the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2020 in Sarawak.
State Education Department in a statement today said the percentage of students passing SPM 2020 was 87.83 per cent as compared to 84.61 per cent for SPM 2019, an increase of 3.22 per cent.
The department noted that the passing rate gap between urban and rural students has narrowed to 1.59 per cent in 2020 from 2.82 per cent in 2019.
It added that Sarawak’s national average grade (GPN) for SPM 2020 was 5.07, an improvement of 0.11 points compared with SPM 2019.
The State Education Department also said there was a higher percentage of students who scored excellent results for SPM 2020 as opposed to SPM 2019.
There were 32,426 candidates in Sarawak who sat for SPM 2020. — DayakDaily
