Sarawakian pianist from America’s Got Talent launches online masterclass platform

KUCHING, May 17: Jolynn J Chin, a Sarawakian pianist and the first Malaysian to appear on America’s Got Talent (AGT) in Season 16, has announced the launch of her new online masterclass platform, ‘JJC Academy Online Masterclass’.

According to a press release, the online masterclass is aimed at musicians, aspiring music producers, composers, singers, drummers, and independent artists who want to learn the best techniques and hone their skills from industry experts from around the world.

Chin, a crossover pianist, film score composer, and actress, also hopes to help musicians from her hometown in Sarawak achieve their dreams by providing them with an opportunity and outlet to learn from distinguished instructors in the music industry, in the hopes of creating a brighter music industry future domestically.


“The courses and one-on-one lessons are designed to assist those who are struggling with challenging passages in performances and are lacking the necessary techniques to take their performances to the next level.

“In addition, the courses and lessons are intended for aspiring producers who lack the necessary mixing and mastering techniques, as well as aspiring artists who are unsure of how to begin as an independent artist, brand themselves, and distribute their music and content in the real-world music industry and music business,” the press release stated.

Yoad Nevo, a multi-platinum producer known for his work with Ed Sheeran, Sia, and Pet Shop Boys, and Maor Appelbaum, a gold and platinum mastering engineer for bands such as Sepultura and Bryan Adams, are among the notable instructors on her platform.

“JJC Academy is proud to launch the video courses with these notable instructors Yoad and Maor, through Pro Audio Master Classes,” the statement read.

Additionally, students will get to choose to study one-on-one with instructors or purchase video courses and study at their own pace.

Students will also learn the right techniques to master piano performance and crossover music arranging with Chin, mixing and mastering techniques from Nevo and Appelbaum, as well as the right drum techniques from Jay Jackson and vocal techniques from Lilly.V.

“The JJC Academy also ensures that students will also get to experience multiple camera feeds and direct audio channeling for the best audio quality experience with interactive assignments throughout the course.
