Sarawakian Nadia Mikail wins Waterstones Children’s Book Prize Overall Winner award

KUCHING, March 23: Sarawakian Nadia Mikail has put the Land of Kenyalang on the world map by winning the Older Readers award as well as the Overall Winner award of the 2023 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize.

Nadia, who is reading law at King’s College, London won the titles with her debut work ‘The Cats We Meet Along the Way’ published by Guppy Books.

Hailing from Kuching, the young lass was formerly a student of SMK St Teresa and had continued her studies at Methodist College of Kuala Lumpur.

Nadia on her social media page, thanks those who have supported her through getting a copy of her book, writing a review or simply “saying something nice to her about it”.

“I’m very proud of it, and I still can’t believe it’s out there in the world,” she said. 

Meanwhile, aiming to seek out new talents for writer of children’s books, the winners of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize is voted by booksellers. — DayakDaily
