KUCHING, May 11: Two Sarawakian divers, Enrique Maccartney Harold and Bertrand Rhodict Lises, achieved impressive results by delivering one and two podium finishes in the men’s 10m platform event held at the Cambodia 2023 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Phnom Penh today.

In a remarkable display of talent, 18-year-old newcomer Enrique accumulated an impressive score of 442.95 points over six rounds to deliver Malaysia’s fourth gold in diving.

According to a news report by Bernama, with his win, diving made a clean sweep of all four gold medals at stake in the Cambodia SEA Games.

Adding to the celebration, teammate Bertrand secured the silver medal with a score of 384.00 points.

The bronze medal was claimed by Max Lee of Singapore, who scored 362.80 points.

Their success follows the victories of Kimberly Bong, who won gold in the women’s 3m springboard individual, and Muhammad Syafiq Puteh, who contributed the second gold in the men’s 3m springboard individual, energising the national diving camp.

Adding to Malaysia’s triumphs, 15-year-old diver Lee Yiat Qing surprised everyone by winning gold in the women’s platform event, marking her debut appearance at the Games.

At the last SEA Games in Hanoi last year, Malaysia bagged all eight gold medals at stake but only the individual events were contested in Phnom Penh this time. — DayakDaily
