KUCHING, March 1: Sarawakian diver Enrique Maccartney Harold expressed his excitement after being listed on the Road To Gold (RTG) Fast Track programme, announced yesterday.
The 19-year-old athlete, hailing from Kuching, shared his enthusiasm upon receiving the news while in Montreal, Canada, where he is set to participate in the First Tour of the 2024 Aquatic World Cup, as reported by TVS.
Enrique Maccartney, currently a Communication major at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), disclosed that he will compete in the 10-meter platform synchronized event alongside fellow Sarawak diver Bertrand Rhodict Lises this Sunday.
“Both of us will strive to enhance our performance in the diving event. After the event in Canada, we will continue training in Kuala Lumpur, as there are no major tournaments scheduled for this year.
“I am also slated to participate in the Malaysian Games (SUKMA), where I aim to bring home two gold medals for Sarawak,” he stated.
Enrique Maccartney and Bertrand Rhodict previously secured the bronze medal in the event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
The Fast Track programme targets talented young athletes aged between 16 and 25, aiming to groom them to potentially win gold at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States. — DayakDaily
