KUCHING, May 10: The Sarawak Barisan Nasional (BN) government says it will work together with the federal government formed by Pakatan Harapan (PH) for the benefit of the people.
In a press statement, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said the state government though an opposition government, was willing to work with the federal government
āThe state Barisan Nasional government, even though an opposition government will continue to work with the federal government for the benefit of the rakyat in Sarawak in particular and Malaysia in general.
āOur top priority is to reclaim state rights which have been eroded over the years back to Sarawak as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Federal Constitution,ā said Abang Johari.
He said the state government would also monitor to ensure that the PH federal government materialised the promises the latter made in its manifesto.
āThe state government will closely monitor all the promises as contained in the Pakatan Harapan manifesto in the next five years, particularly those relating to Sarawak,ā said Abang Johari.
The statement was released immediately following the swearing-in of PH chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as the seventh prime minister of Malaysia. ā DayakDaily
