ASAJAYA, Oct 29: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts (MTCP) Sarawak expects to organise more than 400 events this year, reflecting its continued support for community activities and the creative industry.

Its minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said more than 300 events had been held under the ministry’s event funding allocation as of September, with the number expected to reach about 350 by year-end.

“The remaining events are supported through the matching grant allocation, which helps those in the creative industry develop their capabilities and improve their skills, particularly among young people.

“When these two allocations are combined, I believe the total will exceed 400 events throughout the year,” he told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the 25th Menyemai Bakti IKMAS programme at Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Abang Ikhwan Zaini Hall, Asajaya District Office, today.

Abdul Karim said community events had been held throughout the year, organised by elected representatives, district offices, local authorities, councillors and other parties. — DayakDaily
