KUCHING, Aug 11: Sarawak Tourism Board (STB), through its Sarawak Product Experience (SPE), has recently conducted a one-day expedition to explore new tourism packages identified in Santubong.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the expedition was joined by 30 participants from various government bodies and media agencies to several locations in Santubong identified to have the potential to become new tourism packages in the future, including Sarawak Delta Geopark, Bongkissam shrine, and Buntal Bay.
STB deputy chief executive officer Yusfida Khalid said the SPE Santubong Heritage would indirectly create awareness of the responsibility of maintaining cleanliness and giving briefings to participants and residents.
“We will get feedback from the participants regarding the tours and activities that have been designed regarding things that can be improved.
“This matter is important because it is one of the factors that can attract the interest of tourists, whether local or foreign, to visit here,” she reportedly said after giving a briefing on Responsible Tourism Initiative with Kampung Buntal residents at Dewan Sri Buntal yesterday (Aug 10).
Also present were Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak (MTCP) director Debbie Jenggut Nyelang, Tourism Malaysia Sarawak director Nurul Ain Mohammed Yunus and Kuching Resident’s Office deputy administrative officer Umar Abdul Hamid. — DayakDaily
