LUNDU, March 4: The Sarawak government will introduce cabin crew training as part of the Aerospace Programme at the Sarawak Centre of Excellence for Technology (Centexs) to further develop the State’s aviation sector.
In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said the initiative aims to expand aviation-related training, including ground handling operations.
“I have just discussed with Centexs CEO Dato Syeed Mohd Hussien Wan Abdul Rahman that the next course to be introduced will be cabin crew training, along with ground handling training.
“Cabin crew refers to both male and female flight attendants who must undergo comprehensive training and obtain certification.
“Only upon passing the required examinations can they qualify to work as cabin crew,” he said during a press conference following his visit to the Aerospace Academy at Centexs Lundu today.
He added that the Sarawak government is also exploring additional aviation-related courses with Centexs to support the State’s growing aerospace industry.
“This aligns with our efforts to expand the operations of Sarawak’s airline, AirBorneo, to the regional level, which will require more personnel, including pilots, cabin crew, and other aviation staff,” he said. — DayakDaily
