KUCHING, Dec 19: Sarawak has won the bid to host the 4th Asia Pacific Conference on Performance Analysis of Sports (APCPAS) in 2021.

Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), in a media release today revealed that it won the bidding held during the third edition of APCPAS in Nagoya University, Japan on Oct 14 to 17.

SSC chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Ong Kong Swee pointed out that the conference was a continuation of effort by a group of international sports scientists to develop the sports performance analysis field globally.

“It also serves as a platform for knowledge sharing in the area of sports performance analysis for researchers and practitioners especially in Sarawak,” he said.

While the date of the 4th APCPAS will be set later, Ong added that invitations will be extended to all performance analysis practitioners, coaches, sports scientists and sport experts worldwide.

Through organising the conference, Ong hopes it will help boost the performance of every sport in Sarawak, which is apt with the setting up of the Sarawak High Performance Centre.

“It is a golden opportunity to get insights as well as knowledge transfer from sports technocrats from all over the world.

“This is another step for Sarawak to realise its vision as sport powerhouse which will in turn spur and contribute towards sports tourism in the state,” he added.

Additionally, SSC has also recently won another bid in Tokyo to host the inaugural TAFISA-Asia Sports for All Games in 2022 to be held in Kuching. — DayakDaily
