KUCHING, May 6: There are currently plans to establish an Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) and Border Control Centre at Long Singut, Baleh.
This was among matters discussed during a courtesy call by Federal Secretary of Sarawak Datuk Amir Omar to Sarawak State Border Security Committee chairman Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing at his office here today.
Other matters discussed during the meeting included the setting up of a Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) Rehabilitation Centre and border highways in Sarawak.
Masing, who is the Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, also brought up the issue of strengthening security along the Malaysia-Indonesia border during the discussion with Amir.
Amir, before taking over as the new Federal Secretary in April, served as Secretary-General in the Ministry of Human Resources.
Accompanying Amir during the courtesy call was his deputy Norizan Jili. — DayakDaily
