KUCHING, Oct 8: The Sarawak Secretariat and Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) are exploring closer coordination to strengthen security and immigration management at the State’s main entry points.
In a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the discussions took place during a meeting between Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and AKPS Director-General Dato’ Sri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain at Wisma Bapa Malaysia yesterday (Oct 7).
The meeting, which lasted about an hour, followed a courtesy call by Mohd Shuhaily, his first with the Sarawak Secretary since his appointment as AKPS Director-General on July 1, 2025.
Mohd Shuhaily was accompanied by Deputy Director-General (Operations) Datuk Mohd Nasaruddin M. Nasir, Deputy Director of the Strategic and International Planning Division Norhisham Kamarudin, Kuching International Airport Entry Point Commander Pius Inggong, and Senari Port Entry Point Commander Abang Mat Noor Abang Abdul Samat.
Also present were Sarawak Attorney-General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee, Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Administration) Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, Immigration and Labour Management Unit director Richard Lon, and Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS) director Abdul Wahab Rahim. — DayakDaily
