KUCHING, Sept 15: Sarawak wants to build many more Rest and Relax (R&R) areas to enhance the travel experience along the Pan Borneo Highway.

Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg emphasised this during the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development’s (KPWKM) Kembara Kasih Programme at Kuching Waterfront here today.

“I think along the (Pan Borneo Highway) we will have our R&R areas; like the one in Betong. We will build many more R&Rs along the Pan Borneo Highway,” he said.

He also said the government is currently developing a ‘digital highway’ system on Pan Borneo Highway and soon, Coastal Road Network, to provide a reliable source of asset information necessary to support ongoing asset performance and management.

“We can imagine that by the year 2030, we have Pan Borneo Highway and Coastal Highway; they will be connected with feeder roads. This means the villages and longhouses will be more accessible in the development that we are implementing,” he added. — DayakDaily
