MIRI, March 23: All passenger express boats and speed boats services have ceased operations temporarily until further notice.

However, the service will be put on stand-by for emergency situation and urgent requirement, said Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

“Notices have been put up with telephone numbers at all the terminals for the public to call when required,” he said in a statement.

Lee added that his ministry, together with the Sarawak Rivers Board, will monitor the situation and development of the water transportation services during this period of Movement Control Order (MCO).

“I urge all the relevant parties especially the riverine transport operators, as well as riverine transport users, to give full support and cooperation to the government to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the interest of all Sarawakians,” he said. — DayakDaily
