Sarawak, South Korea to facilitate tech startups to go global

SEOUL, Nov 13: Sarawak’s Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication (MUT), through Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation (SDEC), will collaborate with South Korea’s Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN) to develop the startup ecosystem in the State.

This came after Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Dato Sri Julaihi Narawi led a Sarawak delegation to visit the GDIN at its startup campus in Bundang-gu, Pangyo, Seoul, today.

“We look forward to collaborating with South Korea’s GDIN through SDEC in accelerating Sarawak digitalisation adoption by leveraging on respective strength and expertise in numerous economic verticals.

“We also like to leverage on how South Korea developed their startup ecosystem that generates impact not only in the domestic market but globally,” he said in a statement.

During the meeting, Julaihi and his delegation were given a briefing by GDIN president and chief executive officer Jongkap Kim and managing director Sokjin Chang.

The delegation also included Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication (Telecommunication) Datuk Liwan Lagang, SDEC chairman Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani and SDEC chief executive officer Sudarnoto Osman. — DayakDaily
