KUCHING, May 2: Sarawak is experiencing a period of remarkable growth, with economic and infrastructure development reaching new heights under Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, whose leadership has attracted significant attention from other Malaysian leaders seeking to learn from his effective strategies.

In stressing this, Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki credited Abang Johari’s people-oriented approach, resourcefulness and innovative revenue-engineering initiatives for Sarawak’s prosperity.

“Sarawak is developed and prosperous because we have a leader who has the people’s best interest at heart.

“Our Premier, who is the previous Satok assemblyman, is sought after not only in Sarawak but throughout Malaysia, as people are looking to learn from him on how he managed to bring Sarawak to such an exceptional level,” he said when officiating at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok Zone 3 Aidilfitri celebration at Dewan Sri Bunga Rampai on Wednesday night (May 1), according to a statement.

Ibrahim emphasised that the increased revenue obtained by Sarawak has allowed numerous development projects to be implemented to benefit the people, especially in rural areas.

“There are a lot initiatives and projects that were able to be rolled out for the people. Large projects (which could not be implemented), that previously left us lagging behind because it required substantial allocation could now be carried out,” he noted.

He further pointed out that Abang Johari and the Sarawak government’s initiatives are recognised by political rivals, who are now supporting the government and becoming members of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

“Previously, this party which has three assemblymen were against us. But they are now with us because we have a people-centric leader with good policies,” he said, referring to Parti Sarawak Bersatu which was dissolved and its former members joining GPS component party Progressive Democratic Party.

Meanwhile, on the implementation of development projects in Satok, Ibrahim said he is looking at new methods to expedite their execution.

“When implementing development projects, we have to undergo certain processes. The delays are caused by this. We will discuss with the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) Mayor to find new methods to expedite the projects,” he said.

The programme was jointly organised by the PBB Muhibbah, Kudei Lama, Kudei Baru and Muda Hashim A sub-branches.

Also present were political secretary to the Premier Abdul Samat Gany, political secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister Irwan Zulkarnain Muhammad Hasbie and the programme’s organising chairman Ali Sujang. — DayakDaily
