Sarawak sees 28 new positive cases of Covid-19


KUCHING, Apr 3: Sarawak has recorded 28 new positive cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) as of today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said out of the 28 cases, 25 cases or patients are being treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) while three cases are in Miri Hospital.

At the same time, SDMC said there were also 130 new cases linked to person under investigation (PUI).


It added that out of the 130 new cases, 52 cases were from Kuching, Betong has 27, Serian (19); Miri (12); Samarahan (10); Bintulu (4); Bau (3); Sibu (2) and Asajaya (1).

For the 52 cases in Kuching, SDMC noted that 16 cases were detected from the health screening at the Youth and Sports Complex at Tun Ahmad Zaidi road while the balance of 36 cases were from SGH.

On another note, SDMC revealed that as of today, the compliance rate for the movement control order (MCO) in Sarawak was at 95.5 per cent.

It outlined that the police has captured 32 people for violating the MCO and 44 persons have been brought to the charged in court.

SDMC noted Kuching has the highest number of people being arrested for not abiding the MCO with 15 person followed by Miri (4); Padawan (3); Kota Samarahan (3); Bau (3); Sarikei (2); Bintulu and Serian with one person respectively.

As for those to be charged in court, it disclosed that there were 14 people from Kota Samarahan, 13 from Padawan, eight from Serian, six from Kuching and one each from Miri, Bintulu and Meradong.—DayakDaily
