Covid-19: Kuching continues to see rise in positive cases

KUCHING, Apr 3: The city of Kuching continued to witness a spike in positive cases for novel coronavirus (Covid-19) in Sarawak.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today said Kuching had recorded 107 positive cases of Covid-19 as of today, compared to 76 registered yesterday.

Breaking down in the area or location, SDMC said Semariang has 22, followed by Satok with 17, Taman Sri Wang with 16, Zone 1 (Jalan Arang, Jalan Lapangan Terbang/Jalan Stampin Timur/ Jalan Stampin Tengah) has 13, Zone 2 (Tabuan Height/ Taman BDC/Jalan Stutong / Jalan Kempas ) has 11, Zone 7 (Jalan Semaba / Batu Kawa / Taman Desa Wira / Sunny Hill / Jalan Stapok / Taman Beverly) has 11, Demak Laut has five, Zone 3 (Kenny Hill / Central Park) has four, Zone 4 (SMK Seri Setia / Tabuan Laru / Muara Tabuan/ Tabuan Desa) has four, Zone 5 (Lorong Abdul Rahim / Taman Green Height) has three and Zone 6 (Taman Riverview) has one.


Meanwhile, for Kota Samarahan, the number of positive cases remained unchanged at 18 compared to yesterday.

The positive cases detected in Kota Samarahan are located at Jalan Datuk Musa which include Desa Ilmu or Tanjung Bundong or Muara Tuang.

In the meantime, Kuching has been earmarked as one of the hotspots or red zones by the Health Ministry which recorded more than 41 positive cases of Covid-19.

In contrast, Kota Samarahan still recorded under 40 cases and is classified as orange zone, which is an indication for cases between one to 40 positive cases.—DayakDaily
