“Meanwhile, the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC), another of our subsidiaries, is now at 6 per cent, and set to be completed by late 2026,” he said in his welcoming speech during the opening ceremony of 2nd Sarawak Research and Development Symposium 2024 which was broadcast live by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) on Facebook today.

He also mentioned that from 2019 to 2024, SRDC has funded 79 innovative projects with a total of RM16.6 million.

As of today, 58 per cent of projects have been completed, while 42 per cent are ongoing. These have resulted in 28 publications in tier 1 and 2 journals, 14 filed IPs, and the ongoing training of 24 PhD and 22 M.Sc students.

“All of our funded projects address the six economic sectors and seven enablers outlined in the Post-Covid Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), and also comply with United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).

“To bring innovations closer to impact, our research grants typically require a translational component and we encourage and facilitate public-private partnerships with industries.

“Next year we will be launching a few new grants, and programmes, so stay tuned,” he added. — DayakDaily
