KUCHING, May 28: The Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) Phase 1 has recorded a physical progress of 52.27 per cent as of April this year and is on track for completion by the fourth quarter of 2026, says Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
Delivering his winding-up speech at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) today, Uggah informed that Phase 2 of the SSLR project has also kicked off, with construction works now underway across all packages.
These works involve site clearing, earthworks and drainage works.
“As of April 2025, overall physical progress (for SSLR) stands at 0.93 per cent and is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2029,” he said.
At the same time, Uggah, who is also the Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development, disclosed that the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) has approved a total of 121 rural road and bridge projects in Sarawak worth RM7.92 billion.
This marks an increase from the 107 projects worth RM6.73 billion reported during the previous DUS sitting.
“This includes seven projects that were recently approved under Rolling Plan 5 (of the 12th Malaysia Plan),” he added.
Updating the status of the projects, Uggah said 15 have already been completed, 33 are currently under construction, and 73 are at the pre-contract stage.
Between November 2024 and April 2025, the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) has also awarded 17 projects to successful contractors to begin construction works. — DayakDaily
