KUCHING, April 7: Sarawak recorded five Covid-19 deaths between March 31 and April 5, along with 413 daily new cases today.
The latest figures thus pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally to 301,498 and death toll to 1,702.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its latest update on Covid-19 situation in the State, reported that one death was confirmed at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on March 31 involving an 86-year-old man from Kuching who had diabetes.
On April 5, four deaths were registered with three cases in Kuching’s SGH and one case each in Bintulu Hospital.
The deceased included a 47-year-old man from Kuching, a 60-year-old from Serian, a 76-year-old man from Kuching and a 75-year-old woman from Bintulu. All of them have some forms of morbidity.
As for the daily new infections, Kuching continues to top the list with 131 cases.
Seven districts saw double digit increase in cases namely Miri (54); Bintulu (50); Sibu (43); Samarahan (24); Sri Aman (11); while Sarikei and Bau has 10 cases each.
A total 22 districts registered single digit cases with Serian and Betong has nine cases each; Tatau (7); Mukah, Dalat and Kapit (5 each); Limbang, Lundu, Lawas, Asajaya and Matu (4 each); Pusa and Simunjan (3 each); Tebedu, Lubok Antu, Pakan, Meradong and Subis (2 each); while Kanowit, Saratok, Beluru and Marudi has one case each.
Of the new cases, there are five in severe conditions with three under Category 5 with pneumonia and requiring ventilator support and two under Category 4 with pneumonia and requiring oxygen therapy.
There are 280 cases under Category 2 with mild symptoms and 128 cases under Category 1 with no symptoms.— DayakDaily
