Sarawak registers 289 new Covid-19 cases, three deaths

KUCHING, July 7: Sarawak’s Covid-19 new cases has increased slightly today, at 289 as compared to yesterday’s 286.

The new 289 Covid-19 cases push the cumulative number of cases in Sarawak to stand at 67,560 today.

On the new cases, Kuching recorded the highest with 64, followed by Sibu (37), Sarawak (24), Miri and Bintulu (22 each), Sarikei (16), Song (14), Samarahan (13) Kapit (11), Subis and Serian (10 each) while the rest that recorded single digits were Mukah, Bau, Selangau, Sri Aman, Kanowit, Telang Usan, Tatau, Lubok Ant, Betong and Pusa.

Bukit Mambong, Meradong, Simunjan and Belaga each recorded one new case.

According to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) daily update, Sarawak also recorded three deaths.

All three fatalities were from Sibu Hospital with one of them, an 82-year-old woman who had no comorbidities. She was tested positive of the virus on May 8.

The second victim was a woman aged 60 who had comorbidities of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart issues and dislipidemia. She was tested positive on June 27.

Another death involved a 52-year-old man who was tested positive on June 15. He suffered high blood pressure, diabetes,heart and dislipidemia.

The three deaths today led to a total state’s death toll from Covid-19 to 424 cases.— DayakDaily
