Sarawak records 496 new Covid-19 cases

KUCHING, Nov 5: A total of 484 Covid-19 Category 1 and 2 cases were recorded throughout the state today, while the overall number of daily infections decreased to 496 cases, as compared to yesterday.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, a total of 12 cases in Category 3, 4 and 5 were reported — three patients in Category 3 have pneumonia, six patients in Category 4 show signs of lung infection and are in need of oxygen supply, and another three patients in Category 5 also have lung infection and require ventilators.

This brings the cumulative number of cases recorded in Sarawak, since March 2020, to 243,612 cases.


Kuching is the only district in Sarawak reporting triple-digit cases with 156 cases, followed by Miri (98), Sibu (54), Serian (28), Bintulu (25), Betong (15), Lawas (12), Julau (11), Pusa (10), Samarahan (10), and Subis (10).

Other districts which reported new cases today are Simunjan (9), Bau (9), Kanowit (7), Sri Aman (6), Limbang (4), Sarikei (3), Saratok (3), Meradong (3), Lundu (3), Song (3), Bukit Mabong (3), Selangau (3), Beluru (3), Kapit (2), Mukah (2), Marudi (2), Pakan (1), and Tebedu (1).

Ten other districts, namely Belaga, Daro, Dalat, Tatau, Kabong, Asajaya, Lubok Antu, Tanjung Manis, Matu, Sebauh, and Telang Usan, reported zero new cases.

Meanwhile, SDMC announced the end of three clusters today, namely the Tanah Mawang Cluster in Serian, Jalan Usaha Jaya Dua Cluster in Kuching, and Sepangah Cluster in Limbang, after no new cases involving the clusters were recorded in the past 28 days.

As of today, without any new clusters reported, only 24 active clusters remain in Sarawak. – DayakDaily
