Sarawak Premier visits Singapore PM to gain insight on sovereign fund management, economic cooperation

KUCHING, July 7: Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg paid a courtesy call on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at his office in the Istana at Orchard Road in Singapore today.

According to a statement, the courtesy call was part of the Premier’s itinerary to gain insight into the operation and management of Singapore’s sovereign fund and promote further economic cooperation between the island republic and Sarawak.

Accompanying the Premier were Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian.


During the half-hour visit, the two leaders held discussions on matters of mutual interests to both Sarawak and Singapore as well as current issues affecting the region and the world.

Earlier in the day, the Premier and members of the delegation paid a similar visit to the Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Singapore Lawrence Wong.

This was followed by another courtesy call on Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.

In the afternoon, the delegation visited Temasek Holdings Private Ltd at its headquarters where the delegation was briefed on the operation and management of the Singapore government’s domestic investment arm. — DayakDaily
