Sarawak Premier urges engineers to embrace Artificial Intelligence in technological exploration

KUCHING, Nov 10: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg suggests that the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch should leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) in exploring new engineering technology.

Abang Johari said the old way of doing things was no longer feasible and that it was essential to embrace new methods.

I promise IEM Sarawak Branch. The government will help you to have the centre for your research and I am going to give you the money.

“We have identified the land. You set up your own building. Set up your own hardware and software, and try to use AI to explore new technology in engineering,” he said during the Institute of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Sarawak Branch annual dinner streamed live via Sarawak Public Communication Unit’s (Ukas) Facebook page today.

Abang Johari pointed out that carbon, derived from cement and the construction process, is a major pollutant of the environment.

To address this issue, he encouraged engineers to shift towards using green materials such as green powers and environmentally friendly building materials.

“That is where innovation and solutions come in, and I am sure the local engineers can do that. You can innovate,” he added. — DayakDaily
