KUCHING, July 30: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg says that the Malaysia Board of Technologists’ (MBOT) Technology Leadership Award bestowed upon him carries a significant meaning.

Abang Johari emphasised that the award, which recognises contributions in the field of technology, is dedicated to the people of Sarawak.

“I extend my deepest appreciation and thanks to MBOT for this recognition. This recognition is for Sarawakians, not just me as an individual.

“It is a collective effort for Sarawakians to adapt to and become familiar with the latest technologies available,” he said at a press conference today following the award presentation ceremony for the MBOT Experts Network in Technology, Innovation, and Cooperative Event (ENTICE), which took place at a hotel in Putrajaya, Selangor.

The award, presented by the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI), Chang Lih Kang, was given to recognise Abang Johari’s outstanding leadership for successfully guiding Sarawak in its pursuit of the green economy and renewable energy initiatives.

The event was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and MBOT president Prof Datuk Dr Siti Hamsiah Tapsir. — DayakDaily
