Sarawak Premier arrives in Jakarta, joins national delegation for 13th Annual Consultation

KUCHING, July 28: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg along with a Sarawak government delegation arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, today to attend a pre-meeting in conjunction with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s working visit to the country and the 13th Annual Consultation.

In a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report, the Premier was accompanied by Sarawak Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, and the Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Dato Ibrahim Baki.

Abang Johari is scheduled to join Anwar in a series of official programmes, including the prime minister’s meeting with the chief editors of Indonesian media and the Malaysian-Indonesian Association of Friends of Journalists (ISWAMI), as well as a one-on-one meeting with the president of the Republic of Indonesia at Istana Merdeka tomorrow (July 29).

Following the programme will be the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on healthcare cooperation between Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Indonesia’s Minister of Health.

Delegations from both countries are scheduled to hold an official meeting as part of the 13th Annual Consultation, a key platform for strengthening bilateral ties between Malaysia and Indonesia.

In addition, the Sarawak Premier will also join the Malaysian delegation in a visit to the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta to attend several official events, including a tree-planting ceremony, a photo session in conjunction with Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, the signing of the guest book, and the presentation of a painting as a symbolic gesture of commitment to regional cooperation. — DayakDaily
