Sarawak, Penang to advance Malaysia’s semiconductor industry

KUCHING, Aug 29: Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who also serves as Minister for International Trade, Industry, and Investment and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, met with industry leaders in Penang today to promote Sarawak as a strategic partner in advancing Malaysia’s semiconductor industry.

According to a press release, the engagement, organised by the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Sarawak (MINTRED), provided a platform for constructive discussions on collaboration opportunities to strengthen the nation’s semiconductor sector.

During the session, members of the Malaysia Semiconductor Industry Association (MSIA) shared valuable insights on how Sarawak can complement and enhance the national semiconductor ecosystem, particularly by leveraging its renewable energy resources, robust infrastructure, and commitment to sustainable development.

“MINTRED will further engage with these companies to facilitate their proposals,” said the press release.

MINTRED deputy minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, advisor Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron, deputy permanent secretary Lo Sheau Sia, and representatives from MIDA Penang were present during the meeting. — DayakDaily
