KUCHING, June 23: Visitors can get a glimpse of a scaled-done replica of the moon at the Sarawak Museum Department’s ‘Museum of The Moon’ exhibition, held for the first time in Malaysia.
According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) yesterday (June 22), Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said he was very proud of the exhibition because it is also the first international touring exhibition at the Borneo Cultures Museum.
He said that Sarawak government recognises the importance of combining science to achieve Sarawak’s goal of becoming a developed State by 2030.
“Although we still have a long way to go in terms of space exploration, a science-savvy, data-driven society must be established as a solid foundation for future growth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at all levels,” he added.
Abdul Karim said this when officiating the launching ceremony of ‘Museum Of The Moon’ exhibition at Borneo Cultures Museum yesterday.
During the event, Malaysia’s first astronaut, Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor also presented his motivational talk titled ‘Journey To Space’.
The exhibition will be held from June 17 to Aug 5 and open to the public from 9am to 4.45pm on Mondays to Fridays and from 9.30am to 4.30pm on weekends and public holidays. — DayakDaily
