KUCHING, March 4: Sarawak is set to enhance the quality of its water and electricity supply through strategic collaboration with the Netherlands, leveraging Dutch expertise in resource management, said Sarawak Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication (MUT), Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
According to a TVS news report, Dr Abdul Rahman stated that international cooperation, particularly with experts from the Netherlands, has significantly advanced efforts in this area through the exchange of expertise in water and energy resource management.
“The latest discussions highlight the crucial role of the Netherlands, which has been involved in enhancing water and electricity supply quality in four major regions worldwide, including Sarawak.
“Experts from the Netherlands are expected to participate in an international conference to be held in Kuching in the near future,” he said when met by the media after receiving a courtesy visit from the Netherlands’ Ambassador to Malaysia, Jacques Werner, at his office here today.
Additionally, Dr Abdul Rahman noted that through this collaboration, the Sarawak government has successfully developed innovative projects and solutions in partnership with the private sector, further benefiting the State’s infrastructure development.
He added that the Sarawak branch of the Malaysia Water Association is also involved in various discussions to ensure that this expertise is effectively applied to the State’s water and electricity supply systems.
He emphasised that the Sarawak government remains steadfast in leveraging international technology and expertise to provide better water and electricity supply, ultimately improving the quality of life for Sarawakians. — DayakDaily
