Sarawak leaders grace Maulidur Rasul thanksgiving at State Jamek Mosque

KUCHING, Sept 5: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof were among the leaders who graced the State-level Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M thanksgiving ceremony at the Jamek Mosque here yesterday evening (Sept 4).

Wan Junaidi was accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, while also present were Sarawak Legislative Assembly Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Acting State Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel and Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Project Coordinator for Regional Development Agencies, Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

According to a report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the ceremony began with Maghrib prayers, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.

The highlight of the evening was a special tazkirah delivered by Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin, themed “Morality as the Foundation of a Progressive and Prosperous Ummah”, which underscored the importance of emulating Prophet Muhammad’s character in building a virtuous society.

After Isyak prayers, the congregation joined in zikir marhaban led by the Kuching Division Zikir Group Alliance headed by Dato Ismawi Duet, before the programme concluded with a dinner reception.

Also in attendance were State cabinet ministers, community leaders and other distinguished guests, including non-Muslim representatives. – DayakDaily
