BINTULU, Sept 24: Sarawak has added another accomplishment under its belt as home to the world’s first large-scale grass biomass pellet manufacturer and exporter.

In a TVS news report yesterday (Sept 23), Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg paid a working visit to Raw Energy Sdn Bhd based here.

According to the company, the hybrid tropical grass (HTG) pellets which it produces offer an alternative to traditional coal and wood pellets for sustainable energy production.

It added that the HTG pellet’s carbon cycle also only takes a few days and contains 15 per cent more energy, making it an ideal choice for clean energy.

The company explained that advanced farming and production methodologies allow these pellets to be used directly in power stations, supporting global efforts for decarbonisation.

Before his work visit to Raw Energy, Abang Johari visited the Bintulu algae farming site.
