KUCHING, Oct 10: Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong today leads the list of state award recipients held in conjunction with the 84th official birthday celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Manyin was conferred the Datuk Amar Bintang Kenyalang (DA) award which carries the title “Datuk Amar” by the Head of State during an investiture ceremony held at the Lapau of the Dewan Undangan Negeri complex, here today.
The other recipient of the award was the state assemblyman for Stakan Datuk Seri Mohammad Ali Mahmud.
Federal Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Armed Forces Chief General Tan Sri Affendi Buang and state assemblyman for Katibas, Datuk Ambrose Blikau Enturan received the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS) award which carries the title “Dato Sri”.
Meanwhile, Assistant Minister for Women, Family and Childhood Development Rosey Yunus and Sarawak Federal Secretary Shahabuddin Omar were conferred the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) which carries the title “Datuk”.
His Excellency also conferred the Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) which carries the title “Datu” to the director of Security and Enforcement Unit Datuk Dr Chai Khin Chung, permanent secretary to the Ministry of Transport Buckland Bangik, Unit director of Human Resource Ismail Mohamad Hanis, chief registrar Natives Court Sarawak Ronnie Edward and Bintulu Development Authority general manager Roziah Morshidi.
Wife of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datin Amar Doreen Mayang and wife of Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing, Puan Sri Corrine Masing were awarded the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) which carries the title “Dato”.
Others who also received the PSBS award were former state assemblyman Tan Joo Phoi, former state director of Health Department Dr Jamilah Hashim, former state assemblyman Michael Sim Kiam Hui, former state director of broadcasting Department Shafiee Yaman, state Public Service Commission member Chai Moi Fong, businessman Sim Kiang Chiok, Dr Philip Raja and another businessman Bobby Ting Sie Ching.
The rest who was conferred the same award were Ahmadi Yusoff, Keripin Nangkai, Azizi Morni, Tan Guek Kee, Pengiran Jawa Pengiran Amzah, Ting Choon Hua and Temenggong Ang Keng Su.
Also present at the ceremony were wife of the Yang di Pertua Negeri Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Tun Abang Openg and Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, deputy chief ministers, Speaker of Dewan Undangan Negeri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nasar and Dato Fatimah Iskandar, cabinet ministers, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion and respective spouses, assistant ministers and other local dignitaries. –DayakDaily.
