Sarawak Governor attends Brunei Royal honours ceremony, reinforces longstanding ties

KUCHING, July 15: Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi attended the Royal Audience and Conferment Ceremony of Brunei Darussalam’s State Honours at Balai Singgahsana Indera Buana, Istana Nurul Iman, in Bandar Seri Begawan today.

According to a statement from Astana Sarawak, the ceremony, held in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, was attended by members of the Brunei royal family, state dignitaries, foreign diplomatic corps representatives and distinguished guests from both within and outside the country.

Also accompanying Wan Junaidi and Fauziah was Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is also the Minister-in-Attendance, together with his wife, Dato Dayang Morliah Awang Daud.

The arrival of Wan Junaidi and Fauziah at Istana Nurul Iman was accorded a royal protocol reception, reflecting the close friendship as well as the enduring diplomatic, cultural and historical ties between Sarawak and Brunei Darussalam.

During the ceremony, Wan Junaidi and Fauziah had the opportunity to convey their congratulations and extend their best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha in conjunction with His Majesty’s birthday celebration.

The attendance of the Sarawak Governor and Toh Puan at the prestigious event underscores the strong bond between Sarawak and Brunei, while reaffirming the commitment of both sides to further strengthen friendship, deepen cooperation and explore new opportunities for mutual benefit in the years ahead. — DayakDaily
