KUCHING, Aug 28: Sri Aman has recorded an Air Pollution Index (API) reading of 203 as of 12pm today, effectively placing it under the ‘very unhealthy’ category.
According to data from the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) under the Department of Environment, Serian, Sarikei, Kuching, Miri, and Bintulu have recorded unhealthy readings of 179, 156, 153, 117, and 115, respectively.
Meanwhile, Sibu recorded a moderate reading of 96, followed by Samalaju (94), ILP Miri (87), Mukah (76), Limbang (70), and Kapit (63).
The reading for Samarahan was unavailable.
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are hazardous.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) said its stations in Limbang, Sibu, and Mulu recorded the highest maximum temperatures on Thursday (Aug 27).
Limbang recorded the highest nationwide at 35.3°C, followed by Sibu (35.1°C) and Mulu (35°C).
Other stations in the State recorded 34 °C in Bintulu and Kapit, while Kuching and Miri recorded 34.6°C and 33.8°C, respectively. — DayakDaily
