KUCHING, May 24: Sarawak Forestry Department seized a lorry and foiled an attempt to smuggle 70 pieces of timber of various sizes and species worth RM15,000 at Jalan FAC Rambungan Kuching last night.
“Upon checking, we found that the driver failed to produce any document on the timber that he carried. Further check on the timber showed that there was no Sarawak Forest Department stamping mark on it.
“This is an offence under Section 95 (1) of the Sarawak Forest Ordinance 2015,” said the department’s spokesperson in a statement.
The seized timber, the lorry and three units of the key are now being kept as evidence at their Kuching Regional Forestry Office for further action. — DayakDaily
