KUCHING, April 24: Members of the public has been warned against a Whatsapp account posing as Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) chief executive officer (CEO) Zolkipli Mohamad Aton.
SFC, in a social media post earlier today, clarified that the account displaying the WhatsApp number +6011 2890 5823 is not associated with SFC or Zolkipli in any way,
“We urge all members of the public to disregard any messages received from this individual’s number and avoid engaging in any communication with them.
“Please be advised that SFC takes this matter seriously and is taking appropriate steps to address it,” said SFC sternly.
Those who have received suspicious messages from accounts claiming to be Zolkipli or any other SFC representative are encouraged to lodge a report with SFC.
The conversation screenshots attached with the social post indicated that the suspect intended to scam their victim into purchasing Google Play gift cards with RM200 value each.
The suspect requested for 10 pieces of the gift cards, which totals up to RM2,000 and they claimed that the gift cards were for some prospects of a meeting. — DayakDaily
