KUCHING, Dec 7: Sarawak is hoping to implement direct flight routes for Kuching-Phnom Penh in Cambodia with its upcoming State-owned airline.

According to a news report from Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) today, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said once the acquisition process is completed, Sarawak will try to further strengthen its relationship with Cambodia.

“The flight route from Kuching to Phnom Penh only takes about two hours,” he said.

He said Cambodia also will look into implementing a halal industry where Malaysia, especially Sarawak, can be involved with.

Apart from that, he said, since Cambodia is a rice producer, maybe there are some paddy seeds there that can use to develop the rice industry in Sarawak.

“We can work on this between Sarawak and Cambodia because we also want to produce rice and maybe we can share technology together,” he added. — DayakDaily
