KUCHING, Feb 26: The Sarawak delegation visited Chiyoda Corporation’s Chiyoda Koyasu Research Park in Yokohama to explore cutting-edge carbon recycling and hydrogen production technologies, in pursuit of Sarawak’s vision for a green and net-zero future.
According to a news report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Chiyoda Corporation, a leading engineering company, briefed the delegation on its diverse activities, including carbon dioxide (CO²) capture, carbonate production from concrete waste, ethylene and paraxylene production from CO² and hydrogen, and syngas manufacturing using CO² as a feedstock.
“Discussions also focused on hydrogen production, particularly the joint development of large-scale electrolysis systems with Toyota.
“This visit aligns with the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s vision of a green and net-zero future, building on discussions held during his official visit to Tokyo in December 2024.
“This is also part of a broader effort to establish potential partnerships and explore the feasibility of setting up a demonstration plant facility in Sarawak,” said the statement.
This collaboration could also significantly enhance Sarawak’s capabilities in sustainable energy solutions and carbon recycling technologies, bringing the state closer to achieving Abang Johari’s vision for a sustainable future.
The delegation was led by Deputy Sarawak Secretary (Economic Planning and Development), Dato Sri Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel. – DayakDaily
