Sarawak Energy recognised for its commitment to OSH, environmental management

KUCHING, Dec 19: Sarawak Energy’s commitment to environmental management and occupational safety and health at the workplace was recognised at state and national level awards ceremonies this month.

Sarawak Energy received a total of five awards from the 8th Sarawak Chief Minister Environmental Award (CMEA) presentation ceremony and from the 25th National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) anniversary dinner.

At the CMEA held in Kuching on Dec 12, the Murum Hydroelectric Plant and Batang Ai Hydroelectric Plant were presented with a Gold Award each under the Large Enterprise Category in the Mining and Resource Extraction sector.


Another Gold Award was presented to Mukah Coal Power Plant, while Sejingkat Coal Power Plant received a Merit Award. Both awards were under the Large Enterprise Category in the Manufacturing Sector.

Sarawak Energy was also presented with an Appreciation Award by NIOSH in recognition for emphasising the importance of occupational health and safety at the workplace and project sites as well as its contribution to Health, Safety and Environment Excellence.

The award that was presented at NIOSH’s Silver Jubilee celebration dinner held in Selangor on Dec 7, 2018, was also for Sarawak Energy’s contribution to NIOSH. — DayakDaily
