KUCHING, March 8: Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) has identified internal wiring faults as the cause of frequent power outages at Miri’s Taman Awam food court.

In a statement released today, Sarawak Energy stated that a technical team from its operational and retail arm, Syarikat SESCO Berhad (SESCO), in collaboration with Miri City Council (MCC), conducted on-site investigations on March 6 to address the issue.

According to the statement, following a discussion between SESCO and MCC technicians, they identified that a faulty circuit breaker as the source of the frequent tripping.

“In response, MCC will arrange for its replacement, aiming to mitigate the risk of further disruptions at the Taman Awam food court,” it said.

It added that SESCO has given the assurance that all their electrical facilities in the area are currently in optimal condition.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Energy advises premise owners to enlist qualified internal wiring contractors for troubleshooting and maintenance involving internal faults.

It also recommend for regular inspections to be conducted to prevent unnecessary tripping and minimise the risk of fire hazards.
