KUCHING, March 8: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has intensified efforts against unfair pricing by issuing 25 Goods Information Verification Notices (NPMB) following the inspection of 14,035 premises.

Ops Kesan was mobilised under Section 21 Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011.

According to the media release by KPDN, the primary emphasis on monitoring and enforcement is to prevent traders at every level from exploiting any opportunities by implementing price hikes that go against the profiteering legislation.

Enforcement efforts extend widely to sectors influenced by the surge in service tax and the entire chain of related services as well as unaffected industries such as food and beverages.

Traders who implement price hikes that do not meet with profiteering legislation will face stringent actions under the provisions of AKHAP 2011.

Initiated on March 1 2024, Ops Kesan 2024 addresses the challenge of people’s cost of living, particularly during circumstances such as the rise in service tax from six per cent to eight per cent. — DayakDaily
