KUCHING, Sept 8: Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) has earmarked RM5 million as a scholarship grant to support 44 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leavers in pursuing a diploma programme at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) this year.
This initiative is part of a collaboration between Sarawak Energy and UNITEN and focuses on two new diploma courses in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Sarawak Energy group chief executive officer Dato Sharbini Suhaili explained that the recipients of this UNITEN diploma scholarship programme will engage in fast-tracked and tailored courses, along with workplace learning programmes designed to meet the requirements of the power utility industry.
Sharbini made this announcement during his speech at the 2023 Sarawak Energy Scholarship Award ceremony.
In addition to these scholarships, Sarawak Energy also offers support to 262 students through its bursary program, which targets secondary school students in towns and rural areas of Sarawak.
Since 2019, a total of 582 students have benefited from Sarawak Energy’s bursary program, further emphasising the company’s commitment to educational advancement in the region. — DayakDaily
