KUCHING, May 2: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg held a strategic meeting with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to explore long-term collaborations aimed at strengthening academic excellence and enhancing education for the civil service and government-linked institutions.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), the meeting, held yesterday with LSE President and Vice-Chancellor Larry Kramer, provided a strategic opportunity to foster ties with one of the world’s top institutions in the fields of economics, public policy, and sustainability.
Discussions centred on exploring long-term collaborations between the Sarawak government and LSE, particularly in the areas of executive education for civil service and government-related institutions, postgraduate study pathways, and scholarships for Sarawak students.
The meeting also explored possibilities for joint research, institutional partnerships, academic exchanges, and LSE’s involvement in Sarawak’s climate, energy, and sustainability efforts.
This meeting aligns with Sarawak’s commitment to developing a world-class academic network that can support its sustainable development goals, policy leadership and human capital development.
Meanwhile, TVS reported that the Sarawak Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability (MEESTy) described the meeting as an important platform for building impactful, long-term collaboration.
The partnership with LSE is expected to support Sarawak in developing research-based policies and empower civil servants and the younger generation.
