“The provision of the Bailey bridge was an immediate initiative undertaken by the department to address the disruption in access and safeguard mobility for residents affected by the recent infrastructure failure,” he said in a statement yesterday (May 1).

Vehicles can now cross over Sungai Sauh safely following the complete installation of a Bailey bridge.

He affirmed JKR Sarawak’s commitment to deliver swift and safe solutions in times of emergency, as well as for temporary infrastructure needs.

Cassidy also expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders and personnel involved in the successful implementation of the project.

The bridge was installed following the collapse of the previous wooden crossing on April 22, which prompted urgent remedial action to re-establish a safe and reliable route for the affected communities. — DayakDaily
