Sarawak discusses collaborations, strengthening trade relations with Peru, Mexico

KUCHING, Nov 29: Collaborations and strengthening trade relations were among the topics discussed during two courtesy calls to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg by ambassadors from Peru and Mexico at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

According to the Public Information Department (JaPen) Malaysia Sarawak, the first courtesy call was from the Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Malaysia His Excellency Ricardo Estanislao Morate Canales.

When met by reporters after the visit, Richardo said the meeting with Abang Johari was for collaboration in holding exhibitions to integrate various ethnicities in Malaysia and Peru, especially involving knowledge of plant medicine to treat various diseases.

He said that Peru already has several engagements with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with one of the best universities in Peru, the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, in January 2025.

For the second visit, the Ambassador of Mexico to Malaysia His Excellency Luis Javier Campuzano Pina said that the meeting revolves around collaboration and sharing especially in e-commerce and digital and energy technologies.

He added that the meeting with Abang Johari and other authorities in Sarawak is important to strengthen existing trade relations between Mexico and Malaysia. — DayakDaily
