Sarawak deepens strategic ties with Egypt to support students abroad

KUCHING, Oct 29: A Sarawak delegation, consisting of representatives from the Sarawak government, Yayasan Sarawak and the Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS), conducted a working visit to Egypt to review the welfare of Sarawak students and strengthen cooperation with the Malaysian Embassy in Egypt.

The delegation was led by Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, who is also deputy chairman of Yayasan Sarawak. During the visit, the delegation held a meeting with the Malaysian Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, Datuk Mohd Tarid Sufian, to strengthen strategic cooperation for the well-being of the Sarawak student community who are studying in various fields at universities in Egypt.

The official working visit, which took place from October 27 to 30, 2025, included a visit to the Sarawak Kenyalang Hostel (AKS) in Cairo, as well as an engagement session with Sarawak students in Cairo and Alexandria.

Also part of the delegation were Sarawak Attorney General Dato Sri Saferi Ali, MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha, Mufti of Sarawak Sahibus Samahah Datu Haji Kipli Bin Haji Yassin, as well as senior officials from Yayasan Sarawak and the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS). – DayakDaily
