KUCHING, April 12: The state government has declared May 9 as an additional public holiday for Sarawak to allow Sarawakians to exercise their democratic right to vote.

In a statement today, the Chief Minister’s Office said following the
announcement of the Election Commission (EC) that polling day for 14th

This is done to allow the people to carry out their duty and their

The move followed that of the Prime Minister’s Department which
announced that May 9, the polling day for GE14, be made an additional public holiday.

The announcement was made through a statemebt for the same reason of allowing Malaysians to vote.

After Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak declared the dissolution of parliament on April 6, the EC announced on April 10 that nomination will be on April 28, early voting on May 5 and polling on May 9. ā€” DayakDaily
