KUCHING, Oct 8: Ten dancers from Sarawak Arts Council showcased Sarawak’s traditional dances and music at the recent G-Festival 2233 in Guro, South Korea.
In a statement today, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng applauded the dance troupe which performed their best while representing the Land of the Hornbills.
“The cultural troupe managed to entertain the crowd with their dances and soothing music throughout the night of the festival, portraying the beauty and uniqueness of Sarawak on the international stage,” he said.
Wee pointed out that such cultural performances are one of the initiatives written in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MBKS and Guro City to promote tourism, cultures and youth.
“Our cultures and arts must be preserved for future generations to enjoy and learn.
Wee thanked the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak for their continuous support for this initiative by providing the fund for the cultural troupe under the Facilitation Fund for Heritage, Arts and Culture.
“This initiative would not be a success without the trust and support of the Ministry,” he said.
The visit to South Korea was to reciprocate the visit by Guro City delegates to the recent Kuching Festival. — DayakDaily
