MIRI, Dec 29: Sarawak does not need to rely on national parties like PAS, UMNO, PKR, Amanah or DAP to determine its future, said Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

Abdul Karim, who is also the Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts and Minister for Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, further emphasised the need for local autonomy in decision-making and that Sarawak’s governance must remain within its own people without interference from external political parties.

“Sarawak does not need an external party to govern Sarawak. Our State must be led by Sarawakians—those who understand the living conditions and aspirations of our people,” he said.

He said this at the PBB Lambir Triennial General Meeting (TGM) held today, where over 1,000 delegates from the PBB Lambir sub-branches were in attendance.

During the event, the Asajaya assemblyman also emphasised the importance of unity within Sarawak’s political framework, urging party members and leaders to prioritise the State’s long-term well-being over external influences.

“In the name of democracy, we must ensure that our leaders can see far into the future. We cannot allow outside parties to dictate the direction of our governance,” he said. — DayakDaily
